My name is Julius Mateo and I live in Berlin, Germany. I currently work as an audit manager at Investitionsbank Berlin, having previously worked as an IT consultant specialising in auditing. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Informatics from the DHBW in Karlsruhe and a Master of Science degree in Management (Blockchain) from the GBSB in Malta.
My doctoral research aims to combine my academic and professional background to explore how regulation can drive innovation rather than constrain it. I am motivated by observing how regulatory frameworks can structure and even drive innovation processes within financial institutions. I believe that transforming regulatory complexity into a catalyst for innovation will be essential for the future of financial institutions in Europe.
The relationship between regulation and innovation can be understood from a positivist perspective as a measurable, systemic influence. Regulatory requirements create structures that can be analysed empirically and transformed into enablers of innovation. My research aims to identify objective correlations between compliance requirements and innovation performance, with the ultimate goal of developing a method that translates regulatory data into actionable innovation impulses.
